Hi,

We're looking at using Equinix Internet Access and would like to enable BFD for faster failure detection but it isn't currently supported. Can we request this feature be added please.

    While there's no update on the timing right now, we're keeping a close eye on customer interest. If others are interested in the same idea, please comment and upvote it. This helps us prioritize what to work on next.

    I had a customer reach out asking if this will be supported soon.  I let him know it is on the roadmap, no ETA just yet.  I asked him to join our community and upvote the idea.

    Great question @Zac-BC! @unknown shared an update 20 days ago that there's no timing yet and asked customers to respond by commenting/upvoting so they can prioritize it. I am sharing the recent comments with the team to ensure they are aware of the interest.

    BlueCross and BlueShield of Kansas would also be interested in having BFD available for the EIA services.

    We would like to enable BFD as well to enable us to quickly identify link failures. This service would enhance user experience and network visibility.

    1. What is your expected failover time in case of a network failure?
    2. Have you already adjusted BGP hold timers to achieve faster failure detection?
    3. Are you currently using BFD with BGP in your environment?
      • If so, what has been your experience with stability and reconvergence?
      • Have you encountered issues with BFD being too sensitive?
    4. Would a slightly slower but more stable failover mechanism be acceptable?
    5. Are you aware of any alternative mechanisms you're currently using or considering for failure detection?
    6. How many BFD sessions do you anticipate needing per device or per site?
