Equinix Internet Access is now on the Equinix Developer platform. Catalog | Developer Platform (equinix.com)
This release is v3.6.0 of the cloud-provider-equinix-metal project, which provides a Kubernetes cloud controller manager for Equinix Metal. It includes 25 changes, the most exciting change being an upgrade path for users to get the latest version of MetalLB. This means better BGP-based network load balancing across their enabled worker nodes via custom resources. A lesser but still important change is that CPEM no longer does a health check on an incorrect service if said service was created in the default namespace. Various other updates were also bundled into this version such as updating Go language dependencies and improving linting for developer code. Check out the CPEM documentation for MetalLB for more details and review a sample migration path provided by MetalLB.
This release of our experimental generated Go SDK for the Equinix Metal API adds support for additionalProperties as required in the OpenAPI v3 specification. The new support for additionalProperties allows Go SDK clients to access properties that are included in API responses but are not documented in the API spec and improves the compatibility of the generated Go SDK with future API releases. This release also introduces a default User-Agent header for improved usage metrics. Finally, this helps transition us from the old Packet packngo SDK! To learn more about our generated Go SDK, visit the equinix-labs/metal-go repo on GitHub.

Hey folks,As conference seasons is quickly approaching are there any must-attend conferences that you'll be going to? I plan on going to KubeCon EU, KubeHuddle Toronto, and hopefully some of the DevOps Days conferences (Austin and Chicago, maybe?).If you're going to be at one of those feel free to reach out and we can connect in person.Any other conference or event suggestions?
We recently published a blog (here) called "How Did My Cloud Bill Get So High?" which focused on choosing the best workload placement based on business value, cost and risks. How have your cloud migrations gone historically? Did you migrate from colocation or something else? What were the best (or worst) parts of your migration? Let us know your stories in the comments!

I am able to successfully create a connection to "AWS Direct Connect" via the APIs. However, the docs recommends in step 5: 5. Validate your AWS Account ID Use the Validate Connection Authorization Key API request to verify that your AWS Account ID can be used to create a connection to the selected service profile in the given metro. Doing a POST to /fabric/v4/connections/validate { "filter": { "and": [ { "property": "/zSide/accessPoint/authenticationKey", "operator": "=", "values": [ "123456789" ] }, { "property": "/zSide/accessPoint/profile/uuid", "operator": "=", "values": [ "69ee618d-be52-468d-bc99-00566f2dd2b9" ] } ] } } and it always returns a 400 Bad Request [ { "errorCode": "EQ-3142601", "errorMes
When setting up an Azure ExpressRoute, how is the redundant connection configured? Do I create 2 separate connections, and have one be redundant.priority PRIMARY, and the other SECONDARY? What's the difference between the "redundancy" in the connection, and the "redundancy" under the aside/zside port configuration?

I recently stumbled upon an interesting blog about AI (our top blog for Jan listed below) and it got me thinking about all the amazing (and sometimes concerning) advancements in this field. As someone who has been playing around with ChatGPT in my personal life, I understand the power and potential of AI, but also the risks that come with it.For example, there was a recent incident with an AI-generated show that was streaming on Twitch that had to be taken down due to some questionable content. This just highlights the importance of being aware of the potential dangers and ensuring that our AI models are well-trained and trustworthy. That's why I want to start a discussion with all of you about the biggest risks you see with AI. Have you encountered any similar incidents or have any stories to share? I'd love to hear your thoughts and insights on this topic! Hello,I would like to create a L2 connection in the sandbox but I'm having some problems. I can get a list of ports but I can't get a service profile using GET /fabric/v4/serviceProfiles. When I try to create a service profile I get the message "PENDING APPROVAL" but I can't find a way to approve this service profile. What would be the best way to test the setup of L2 connections to Azure, AWS and Google in the the sadbox environment?Any help is appreciated. Thanks
With reference to Equinix Connect, can Equinix configure access-lists on the router/switch to provide basic firewall functionality? We are specifically looking to only allow specific source IPs and ports to a device directly connected to the router.
Hi, I am using the API to open inbound orders and I received a call today that the Shipping team cannot scan the tracking numbers and associate them to a ticket. It looks like the API is putting the tracking number string into a list instead of a string which is causing this, ['626467467487', '626467467454', '626467467465', '626467467476']. I have my app posting this in a string format using the catalog on the developer portal. The portal does state that the tracking numbers need to be inside brackets so could that be the reason? "carrierTrackingNumbers": [ "DHL930182000"], That is the example from the catalog, I believe the brackets are causing the issue here with the Shipping department at the site.
How can I open a trouble ticket with Equinix?
Where can I find more information about visiting an Equinix datacenter/IBX?
I keep hearing about accessing things in "ECP". What is ECP?
I'm trying to create a primary and secondary GCP connection. I created a primary connection, however, when I try to create the secondary connection I get the following response: [ { "errorCode": "EQ-3142303", "errorMessage": "Only Primary connection allowed for this CSP", "details": "Given service profile does not allowed redundant connection", "correlationId": "null-0000-103912200151-api", "additionalInfo": [ { "property": "/redundancy/priority" } ] } ] However, if I get the service profile details via the API: https://api.equinix.com/fabric/v4/serviceProfiles/{UUID} in the "metadata" section there is an attribute "redundantProfileId" which lists the profile Id I was using to try and create a redundant connection. Am I misunderstanding this as it seems that since there is a "redundantProfileId" listed that the profile should support redundant connections?
Hello! We have noticed that the power feed to our cage is L5-30. Can we use a L5-30 to L6-30 adapter to interface with the PDA that we plan to install in our co-location cage?Thank you.
Based on Cisco's direction, Equinix will end sales for any new Cisco CSR1000v (including both Equinix-Configured as well as Self-Configured device type) from the Network Edge marketplace. For existing Equinix-Configured Cisco CSR1000v customers, devices will be End-of-Sale at the end of February 2023. All new customers are advised to consider the Cisco Catalyst 8000v router, which is recommended by Cisco. Additionally, with the end of sale announcement of the Cisco CSR1000v by Cisco, Equinix will be providing a tool to migrate existing Network Edge CSR1000v Self-Configured BYOL customers to Cisco Catalyst 8000v BYOL. This guided flow from the Fabric portal helps customers migrate their existing CSR1000v and associated connections. For more information, please refer to the Cisco1000v End-of-Sales/End-of-Life Announcement.
For example, if I want to use Equinix Fabric to set up and operate AWS, is it possible to use the EquinixFabric API for management within AWS (EC2 startup, life-and-death monitoring, etc.)? Or is it necessary to use APIs provided by AWS?When using multiple Azure and GCP, it is a concern to use the API provided by each.Thank you.

Hi Community, I wanted to start a chat around some dev ops tools that we know many of our customers use. I'll throw a few questions below to get us started but feel free to go off topic if you want to discuss something outside of these questions. Does your organization use Ansible, Terraform, or both? Are there other automation tools that you use or prefer? What do you like/dislike about each of these tools? How can we improve the user experience when using these tools with Platform Equinix?
Hi Community, I just finished reviewing the official announcement and wanted to share my highlights TLDR IT equipment within data centers, including routers, servers and storage arrays, emit high levels of heat that requires data centers to be fitted with robust cooling systems to remove that heat "Most datacenters operate within restrictive temperature and humidity bands, resulting in environments that are unnecessarily cooler than required," said Rob Brothers, Program Vice President, Datacenter Services, IDC "Optimizing data center temperatures results in more efficient operations, benefitting businesses and the planet..." - Sue Preston, vice president and general manager, Advisory and Professional Services, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). As a part of this new efficiency initiative, Equinix expects to operate its facilities closer to 27°C (80°F), aligning operating limits across its global data center portfolio with the globally accepted boundaries of the A1A standards
