Customers can create 10 Mbps virtual connections to connect to themselves in a point-to-point or a multipoint-to-multipoint configuration. If interested in creating a 10 Mbps virtual connection to a Service Providers publicly available on Fabric, you should verify that the Service Provider supports the lower speed tier. Availability: All Equinix Fabric locations, for local and remote connections, to any connection destinations (provided the Service Provider allows that speed tier) Ordering: Customers can order 10Mbps virtual connections online only.
Based on Cisco's direction, Equinix will end sales for any new Cisco CSR1000v (including both Equinix-Configured as well as Self-Configured device type) from the Network Edge marketplace. For existing Equinix-Configured Cisco CSR1000v customers, devices will be End-of-Sale at the end of February 2023. All new customers are advised to consider the Cisco Catalyst 8000v router, which is recommended by Cisco. Additionally, with the end of sale announcement of the Cisco CSR1000v by Cisco, Equinix will be providing a tool to migrate existing Network Edge CSR1000v Self-Configured BYOL customers to Cisco Catalyst 8000v BYOL. This guided flow from the Fabric portal helps customers migrate their existing CSR1000v and associated connections. For more information, please refer to the Cisco1000v End-of-Sales/End-of-Life Announcement.
For example, if I want to use Equinix Fabric to set up and operate AWS, is it possible to use the EquinixFabric API for management within AWS (EC2 startup, life-and-death monitoring, etc.)? Or is it necessary to use APIs provided by AWS?When using multiple Azure and GCP, it is a concern to use the API provided by each.Thank you.

Hi Community, I wanted to start a chat around some dev ops tools that we know many of our customers use. I'll throw a few questions below to get us started but feel free to go off topic if you want to discuss something outside of these questions. Does your organization use Ansible, Terraform, or both? Are there other automation tools that you use or prefer? What do you like/dislike about each of these tools? How can we improve the user experience when using these tools with Platform Equinix?

Hi Community, I just finished reviewing the official announcement and wanted to share my highlights TLDR IT equipment within data centers, including routers, servers and storage arrays, emit high levels of heat that requires data centers to be fitted with robust cooling systems to remove that heat "Most datacenters operate within restrictive temperature and humidity bands, resulting in environments that are unnecessarily cooler than required," said Rob Brothers, Program Vice President, Datacenter Services, IDC "Optimizing data center temperatures results in more efficient operations, benefitting businesses and the planet..." - Sue Preston, vice president and general manager, Advisory and Professional Services, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). As a part of this new efficiency initiative, Equinix expects to operate its facilities closer to 27°C (80°F), aligning operating limits across its global data center portfolio with the globally accepted boundaries of the A1A standards

A few points that stood out to me in the What Is a Data Center? What Are Different Types of Data Centers? blog Are data centers expanding, modernizing or shrinking? According to a recent Network World article, “Companies might not be physically building brand new, centralized data centers, but they are modernizing their existing data center facilities and expanding their data center footprint to edge locations.” According to a 2022 study, more than half (51%) of IT professionals said they were planning to close all of their on-premises data centers in the next 24 months. The sixth annual Global Interconnection Index (GXI) 2023, a market study published by Equinix, predicts that: “By 2026, 80% of G2000 companies will be digital leaders, interconnecting with 4+ hyperscale providers and 30+ SaaS/business partners, on average.” Most enterprise and government data centers cannot meet the high standards of today’s or future sustainability objectives (i.e., carbon neutrality), especially on a

Here are some of my take ways from the latest blog. Transactions that used to take a few seconds now happen in the millisecond and microsecond range—and before too long, applications and systems will need to operate in the realm of nanoseconds. Precise time synchronization for IT systems keeps getting more important. Distribution of servers, storage systems, networking, and private and public clouds creates significant challenges around synchronizing system clocks. Equinix Precision Time provides timing services over Equinix Fabric, so if you already own a port on the Equinix Fabric network, you can connect easily to Equinix Precision Time services. The world of time synchronization is evolving quickly as applications get faster and faster. Technological advancements around smart grids, 5G and 6G networks and IoT devices like autonomous vehicles underscore the importance of more precise, secure time synchronization.
