The Equinix Pulumi and Crossplane providers have been updated to take advantage of the latest Fabric Cloud Router features from the Terraform provider. This includes recent updates that allow any Fabric resources to instantly approve AWS connections when given AWS credentials. Secondly a new connection type, FCR to IPWAN, is now available! Any Fabric Cloud Routers connected to an IPWAN will automatically peer with other remote FCRs connected to the same IPWAN. Also, Fabric automatically provisions redundant network connectivity to the IPWAN service, meaning customers only provision a single connection but receive additional protection. This drastically reduces customer configuration requirements, allowing users to rapidly produce a regional or global network. The routes automatically learnt from remote FCRs in the IPWAN network are displayed in each of their active routing tables so users
Customers participating in the beta for Metal Load Balancing as a Service can now experiment with this upcoming service through Cloud Provider Equinix Metal (CPEM), a Kubernetes Cloud Controller Manager. Anyone in the beta can set up L3 load balancing for the Kubernetes Control Plane IP and for Services running in Kubernetes. If you’ll be at Kubecon next week, come see this and other integrations in action at our booth! This latest version of the official kubernetes-sigs project, CPEM continues to include MetalLB and KubeVIP configurations options as in-cluster self-managed alternatives.
In this short Tech Talk, we'll review how to design network access to AWS for high availability and resiliency to ensure your connectivity is available when you need it most. Our experts Dhanil Parwani, Senior Partner Solutions Architect at AWS and Gene McColm, Principal Solutions Architect at Equinix will explain how to:Achieve resiliency with your network deployment of AWS Direct Connect Solve challenges and risks of having a single connection to AWS Discover the benefits of designing for high availability vs resiliency Gain maximum resiliency for critical workloads Manage between cloud regions for data residency and compliance Become geo-resilient across multiple global metros
Equinix Terraform Provider v1.16.0 not only has the ability to create Fabric Cloud Router resources directly, but also layer 2 connections to AWS, GCP, and specific fabric ports in Equinix. Connections to Azure and Oracle via Terraform are coming soon! FCR is a great option for those who want to quickly route between clouds using BGP or static networks without worrying about specific OS, vendor requirements, or advanced configuration. For those who use Network Edge, this Terraform release allows you to disable the default internet connectivity before provisioning specific firewalls (Palo Alto Networks NGFW, Cisco FTDv, and Aviatrix FireNet) just like you can in the console.
As of version 3.6.2, Cloud Provider Equinix Metal is officially part of the Kubernetes Cloud Provider Special Interest Group! We are happy to offer up the work we continue to do on CPEM to a larger community and allow broader engagement. You can find (and contribute to) the repo under kubernetes-sigs/cloud-provider-equinix-metal or find Equinix listed in the SIG Cloud Provider community readme. Recent updates include fixed elastic IP annotations for those still using facilities (which are being deprecated) as well as a fix to CPEM's use of MetalLB v0.12.1.

A number of features and improvements have landed in metal-go since the v0.9.0 release last month. As of the latest release, v0.15.0, metal-go has gained support for: tags on projects, SSH keys, and virtual networks specifying storage configuration when creating a new device logging Sunset & Deprecation headers for backwards compatibility with packngo (especially important in light of the upcoming deprecation of facilities) filtering projects by name when loading all projects for a user or organization using the name query parameter searching devices by hostname, description, short_id, reservation short_id, tags, plan name, plan slug, facility code, facility name, operating system name, operating system slug, or IP addresses using the search query parameter For a full list of the changes that have landed in metal-go since v0.9.0, check out the the metal-go releases page on GitHub.

The v0.15.0 release of metal-cli begins our migration from the packngo SDK to metal-go. The following subcommands have been updated to use metal-go in this release: init metros operating-systems plan project In addition, all subcommands have gained the --http-header flag, which can be used to add custom HTTP headers to any request that is sent to the Equinix Metal API as part of a metal-cli command execution.
This release of metal-go includes a number of features and improvements to ease the transition from packngo to metal-go. This includes support for include and exclude parameters when creating various Equinix Metal resources, fixed request paths for Metal Gateway API endpoints, and support for the default project ID and default organization ID for individual users. A number of duplicated models have been consolidated to reduce the need for type conversions when interacting with different API endpoints. In addition, we have added support for the new SOS hostname attribute on devices to reduce reliance on the deprecated facility attribute. This release also includes features that are not available in packngo, such as support for the Invoices API. To learn more, check out the full release notes on GitHub and visit the metal-go page on Equinix Labs.

The 1.14.3 release of the Equinix Terraform provider includes bug fixes and documentation improvements to provide a more consistent experience. The spot market request resource and data source have been updated to avoid unnecessary changes when the order of `facilities` changes for a spot market request, the virtual circuit resource has been updated to reduce the occurrence of API errors due to invalid requests, and the documentation for the `equinix_metal_device` resource has been updated to more accurately describe the `user_ssh_key_ids` and `project_ssh_key_ids` fields.

A Terraform module that quickly installs OpenShift for use on Equinix Metal. First off, v0.4.0 aligned with the support of metros and deprecated the use of facilities; see the announcement here. The default location was changed from SJC1 to DA, the default size is c3.small vs the previous c2.medium, and Terraform version 1 or higher is required. Underlying this is also a switch from our Metal specific Terraform provider to the full Equinix Terraform provider (v.1.14.1). This allows more configurability for node plans and better default node plans. Newer versions of OpenShift are used. This also includes several outstanding bug and CI fixes that were preventing the project from successfully functioning. It is recommended to rebuild any existing deployments. Migration should be possible by converting the state files as described in the Migrating from equinix/metal to equinix/equinix. v0.5.0 does all the above but includes minor update to the install
