Does this allow us to use a private ASN, or is a public ASN required? If Private ASN supports, can it support 4 byte private ASN as well.

You still have the ability to use a private ASN. Equinix will assign the a private 2-byte or 4-byte ASN. (The customer can choose 2 or 4 byte but Equinix will choose the private ASN.)

If you have your own PI addressing and choose a private ASN you will need to create appropriate route objects (ROs) with the relevant RIR or IRR using Equinix’s public ASN, 15830.

Hi -

to confirm, the snip from our documentation… which references (I assume - no longer a requirement) the need for a customer to use our assigned private ASN and the ability/need to configure “BGP Local AS” is not required per the announcement?
