The Challenge:

Organizations deploying multiple Secure Cabinet (SC) or Secure Cabinet Express (SCE) cabinets often need dedicated overhead cable routing to support connectivity between adjacent environments. Without a standardized approach, cable tray installations may require custom review and can result in inconsistent design, deployment, and operational support considerations.

As demand for overhead cable management continues to grow, we are enabling a solution that provides flexibility while maintaining alignment with Equinix safety, design, and operational standards.

A Better Approach:

Equinix has expanded Custom Parts & Labor (CP&L) capabilities to support customer-owned cable tray installations in Secure Cabinet and Secure Cabinet Express environments through standardized policy and design guidelines.

The solution provides a consistent and supportable framework for overhead cable routing, including approved installation requirements, mounting standards, customer ownership responsibilities, and operational boundaries. By establishing global standards for cable tray deployments, Equinix enables customers to manage cabling efficiently while maintaining operational supportability and safety requirements.

When to Use This:

  • When customers require dedicated overhead cable routing between contiguous Secure Cabinet or Secure Cabinet Express deployments
  • When organizations need a standardized cable management solution that aligns with Equinix design, operational, and safety standards
  • When deploying customer-owned cable trays above contiguous cabinet environments within an SC or SCE footprint
