In this video, David Flanagan a.k.a. Rawkode, does a deepdive on the Equinix Terraform CDK. David will discuss the advantages of using Terraform CDK for your Equinix provisioning, emphasizing the benefits of a declarative approach to code. This method allows for reusable snippets across teams, reducing redundant work. We'll demonstrate how to create a function to find the cheapest server configuration and show how this refactored code can be published and shared via various platforms like NPM and PyPy. In this video, David Flanagan, a.k.a. Rawkode, does a deep dive on the Equinix GO SDK. David explores how to leverage webhooks and APIs with the Equinix SDK to build pipelines for remediation, automation, and notifications. We'll demonstrate how to send GET requests, showing the requests made and their results. In this video, we'll show you how to connect a Fabric Cloud Router to the Google Cloud Platform. We begin with creating a connection from a Fabric Cloud Router to Google Cloud Platform using our Quick Connect feature. After the connection is submitted, we'll configure BGP in Google Cloud. We'll add the Peer ASNs for both connections and take the IP addresses provided by Google. Then we return to the Equinix portal to configure BGP on the Fabric Cloud Router. We use the Peer IP addresses obtained from GCP and apply these changes to the primary and secondary connections. Then we'll confirm that the routes are active. We'll head to the Cloud Router Inventory and view the Active Routes. Finally, we view the Route Tables on both the AWS and Azure sides of this connection to confirm that we have interconnectivity between three cloud environments using Fabric Cloud Router.

Martin shares his experiences speaking at conferences and emphasizes the importance of human interaction in technology. He concludes by highlighting the need to approach AI with caution but also recognizes its potential for positive impact.  

In this video, Chris Privitere interviews Tabitha Sable, one of the co-chairs of SIG Security, while at KubeCon EU 2024. They discuss the role of SIG Security in improving the security of Kubernetes, including coordinating third-party audits, conducting security assessments, and enhancing the security content of Kubernetes documentation. They also talk about the challenges of balancing security features with practicality and the importance of community involvement in improving Kubernetes security. Tabitha mentions that SIG Security is always open to new members and encourages interested individuals to join their Slack channel and participate in their regular meetings.  

In this video, Steve Martinelli from Equinix interviews Phil Estes, a Principal Engineer at AWS. They discuss Phil’s background in software development and his involvement in open-source projects, particularly in the container runtime world. Phil talks about his work on Docker, Containerd, and a new project called Finch, which provides a wrapper for container runtime tools. They also discuss the adoption of Containerd and the reasons why many managed Kubernetes services switched from Docker to Containerd. Phil shares his favorite open-source moments and mentions upcoming speaking engagements. He encourages people to try out Finch and provides information on where to learn more about the project.  

In this video, Chris Privitere from Equinix interviews Jimmy Zelinsky, CPO at AuthZed. AuthZed is the company behind SpiceDB, an open-source graph database optimized for authorization. Jimmy explains that authentication and authorization are the two main steps in accessing an application. Authentication verifies the identity of the user, while authorization checks if the user has the necessary access to perform certain actions. SpiceDB uses relationships between objects to model authorization, allowing users to define access based on relationships. Jimmy mentions that Google implemented similar concepts for Google Plus using a system called Zanzibar. AuthZed implemented SpiceDB based on the concepts from Google's Zanzibar, providing the same capabilities to other companies. They also recently launched a Kubernetes API proxy which allows users to secure the Kubernetes API with SpiceDB. Additionally, AuthZed offers a product called Materialize, which provides a materialized view of the g

Ed Vielmetti from Equinix and Hannah Aubry from Fastly discuss the similarities between their work and how they address challenges in the open source community. They emphasize the importance of supporting open source projects and communities, as well as the value of collaboration and contribution. They also discuss the concept of financial sustainability for open source projects and the need for organizations to support and give back to these communities. They highlight the importance of communication and asking for help when needed. Overall, they express their passion for open source and the positive impact it has on innovation and collaboration.  

Dave Neary, the Director of Developer Relations at Ampere, explains that Ampere is a CPU company that specializes in making cloud-native CPUs designed specifically for the needs of cloud computing. They focus on high core density, high memory bandwidth, and single-threaded cores to avoid noisy neighbor issues. They use the ARM architecture and have recently started designing their own cores. Dave also discusses the role of developer relations at Ampere, which involves creating incentives for customers to use their processors and providing support for software integrations. Dave mentions that Ampere has optimized versions of popular frameworks like PyTorch and ONNX for their platform and offers cost-efficient AI inference compared to GPUs. He also talks about Ampere's involvement in the CNCF space and their collaboration with Equinix on the Actuated product, which provides hosted GitHub runners for CNCF projects. Cassandra Chin, a college student from Colorado State University, studying computer science, discusses her book “Phippy's AI Friend” with Steve Martinelli at KubeCon Paris. The book follows the story of Kimani, a non-binary computer who faces struggles in finding their identity. The book also includes a workshop where readers can build a visual recognition model using Scratch. Cassandra has been conducting workshops since the age of 13 and enjoys making technology accessible to everyone. She will be giving a keynote at DevNexus and is also involved with the AI ML working group at CNCF, working on an AI white paper to connect AI and cloud-native development. Cassandra emphasizes the importance of creating educational content for developers to adopt AI in a meaningful way. The book is available on Amazon, with a French version also available. Cassandra’s favorite character in the book is Kimani.  

In this video, Steve Martinelli interviews Mark Sturdevant, a software developer at IBM Research. Mark discusses his role in open tech and his focus on open source for the past 10 years. He explains that his day-to-day work involves helping teams within IBM transition from inter-sourcing to open-sourcing projects. Mark also shares his experience in the open-source community and offers advice for staying hands-on in software development for 30 years. He discusses the common pitfalls in transitioning from inner-sourcing to open-sourcing and highlights the importance of community building and documentation.Mark also discusses his current work in AI and open source, particularly in the field of generative AI and large language models. He emphasizes the significance of networking and face-to-face interactions at conferences like KubeCon Paris. Mark concludes by mentioning some of the open-source projects he has contributed to and encourages attendees to engage with others and not be shy.

She discusses Loft Labs’ open source products, like DevPod, and their involvement in the cloud native world. Denise also shares her thoughts on the challenges of managing engineering teams and the importance of communication and alignment across different departments. She mentioned her keynote at a previous KubeCon event, where she discussed the evolution of a startup and the need for adaptability. Denise expresses her excitement about joining Loft Labs and the positive response they have received at KubeCon.
