Announcement: Network Edge Bring Your Own Image (BYOI) Private Beta Now Open
We’re opening an invite-only private beta for BYOI (Bring Your Own Image) on Network Edge. BYOI lets customers upload and test vendor Virtual Network Function (VNF) images that aren’t yet available in the Network Edge marketplace. This announcement explains what BYOI is, who should participate, the beta rules, and how to take part.
What is BYOI?
Bring Your Own Image (BYOI) enables customers to upload and deploy VNF images from vendors not currently available in the Network Edge marketplace. Uploaded images are private to your organization — they are not shared with other customers or published to the public marketplace.
- Supported image format for this release: qcow2 only.
- Images remain private to the customer account — no marketplace publication.
- Designed for testing vendor VNFs ahead of General Availability (GA).
Who can participate?
Nominate customers that have a defined test objective (POC, interoperability testing, feature validation) and understand that the environment is a non-production beta. Ideal participants:
- Customers who need a vendor VNF not available today in the marketplace.
- Teams that can run tests within a 30-day beta window and accept best-effort onboarding.
- Customers are able to supply qcow2 images and basic technical details (dependencies, expected behavior).
Private Beta — Key guidelines & requirements
- Not for production: This private beta must not be used for live workloads or customer traffic where disruptions could cause business impact.
- Participation: Requesting to join does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
- Duration: 30 days from the date of customer onboarding into the beta cohort.
- Image format: Only qcow2 images are accepted. Images in other formats will be rejected.
- Onboarding: Image onboarding and deployment are provided on a best-effort basis — technical limitations may prevent successful onboarding or deployment for some images.
- Cost: The beta is provided free of charge.
- GA target: General Availability is targeted for August. Successful beta participants will be well-positioned to transition to GA.
Selection process & timeline
- Reach out to your account team if you are interested in participating. They will submit a request for your participation.
- Selected teams will be notified directly with onboarding instructions and timelines.
- Beta period for each selected customer is 30 days from onboarding.
We’re excited to work with a small cohort of customers to validate BYOI ahead of GA in August. Your feedback will directly influence the final product and help broaden vendor support on Network Edge.
A huge thank you to our community members for your time, insight, and collaboration. Let’s make this release incredible!
