What happens when GNSS (GPS) receiver loses its connection?

What happens when the GNSS (GPS) receiver providing precise time to Precision Time infrastructure loses its connection to the satellite constellation?

  • The Precision Time redundancy feature ensures that in the case all possible options to receive GNSS signals from GPS or other constellations are lost, the built-in Rubidium oscillator inside each grandmaster clock provides precise holdover to maintain accuracy of 1.5 milliseconds over a 24-hour period.
