Tech Note: Using BGP Local-AS with Equinix Internet Access over Fabric (EIAoF) and Network Edge
Welcome to the Equinix Community! We know you’re always looking for ways to maximize your connectivity, and sometimes technical limitations can be a hurdle. This post dives into a handy BGP feature c...158Views3likes0Comments

FCR is not doing ECMP
I have an FCR connected to one OCI connection and two AWS connections. From AWS to OCI, passing through FCR, I see that AWS is implementing ECMP towards OCI prefixes, as evidenced by the RX traffic on the FCR coming from these two connections. In FCR active routes, I am seeing the same prefixes learned from these two AWS connections. If I look at the contrary (TX) from FCR to AWS (from traffic that originated in OCI), I always see TX to AWS using only one AWS connection, never the other one. Support says that it is not working because OCI has only one connection to FCR. As far as I know, ECMP is implemented hop by hop, and it is a local decision implemented independently at each router (hop) in the network, that is why I do not agree with this statement. For me is the function of FCR implement ECMP in this case for these packets coming from OCI to AWS.8Views0likes1CommentRouter maintenance notice to IX peers
Hello Equinix Community, Apologies in advance if this is a repeated question but my search didn't find any relevant topics. We have upgrade planned for our router in Chicago which is connected to Equinix IX. What is the best method of informing IX participants about the maintenance activity? We have a lot of peers on the IX so informing them individually will be very cumbersome. Thanks70Views0likes3CommentsThe Future of AI: Which Trend is Your Game- Changer?

Hi all, Is everyone else experiencing long delays asking for a new connection or changes to service. My own experience, has been since contact with the Equinix team, it has been 26 days, and from there we have been given a estimate of 2-4 weeks to provision a new connection.80Views0likes3CommentsIncrease bandwith on a connection
We currently have a copper bandwidth connection at the data center (in a cabient) and are looking to increase the available bandwidth. Could you assist with the steps invovled in ordering? From reading past forums does it involve ordering a new connection? Thanks for your expertise.78Views0likes1CommentProgrammatically Retrieve Colocation Users
Essentially what the title says. I'm attempting to programmatically get the list of colocation users and their roles/permissions. It doesn't appear there's an easy way to do this with the existing API. That said, when I view my users in the portal ordinarily, I see GET /api/ecp/users/getUsers So it's definitely there, I'm assuming it's just not available to normal users, only to Equinix internally. Any chance someone here has an idea?73Views1like1CommentEquinix DC – moving from copper to fiber + IP address ordering headaches
i everyone, We’re at an Equinix datacenter and moving from copper to fiber. And ordering some new IP addresses. Couple of things tripping me up: Ordering fiber vs copper cross connects through the portal isn’t super clear. Help desk isn't able to help Has anyone done a copper → fiber migration at Equinix recently? How did you order it (portal, ticket, account manager)? Times moves fast...don't they? As the line between public and private cloud continues to blur, we're seeing the very definition of "data center" evolve right alongside it. Colocation, edge, interconnection - these aren't just technologies anymore. They're becoming foundational building blocks in how hybrid cloud actually operates today. We used to think of hybrid as static: pair a hyperscaler with some on-prem gear and bada-bing, bada-boom, call it a day...right? Wrong. That model no longer cuts it. Now, we're watching new hybrid patterns emerge that are more agile, distributed, and value-driven. Let's face it, it's no longer about where the workloads are - it's about how infrastructure adapts to optimize performance, cost, and connectivity in real-time. What are you seeing in your markets? Are you rethinking their hybrid strategies through the lens of colocation and interconnection? Are edge facilities shifting the center of gravity? Would love to hear your take - what are your thoughts?59Views0likes0Comments
