Does a remote port order include final tie-down?

When ordering a remote port (connect a virtual device on Network Edge to an NSP), will Equinix complete the final patch (tie-down) between ECX port and my NSPs patch panel port?

  • Hi KS,

That is correct!  To add to what Marek indicated... an LOA is required and is submitted with the Equinix Remote Fabric Port order in our Equinix Portal.  Contained within the LOA (Letter of Authorization) is a section that can be referred to as the CFA (Channel Facility Assignment), which will have the requisite tiedown info on as you are referring to as the front panel... and yes, you are also correct that the NSP is responsible for any jumpers, patching, etc within their own cage/s.  Typically and usually the case, if any work is required within an NSP cage, the NSP can schedule their own dispatch to perform the work.

NSP Last Mile <> Equinix IBX Data Center (NSP Cage) - Patch Panel <> Equinix Physical Cross Connect <> Equinix Remote Fabric Port.

    Hi KS,

Your NSP has to provide an LOA that will define the demarcation point (IBX, space, rack, patch panel, port) where Equinix will deliver the Remote Fabric port.

So Equinix will deliver the Remote Fabric port directly on a patch panel in the NSP rack. Then it's up to the NSP to complete the final patching up to their active equipment. Most NSPs have this pre-wired.

Thanks Marek. When you say Equinix will deliver the Remote Fabric port directly on a patch panel in the NSP rack. Do you mean that Equinix will connect into the existing NSPs patch panel via front panel? The NSP is responsible for the wiring from inside/back of the panel down to their device?
