Giga and Equinix Foundation join forces to help bridge the digital divide
We’ve joined forces with Giga —an initiative by UNICEF and the International Telecommunication Union — to bridge the digital divide. This collaboration through the Equinix Foundation will help realize the Giga mission of connecting every school worldwide to the internet by 2030. Today, nearly half of the world’s schools remain offline, depriving over 1.3 billion children of the resources and opportunities that digital connectivity provides. This challenge is not just about access; it’s about fostering equality, unlocking potential, and paving the way for a more inclusive future. As part of this three-year collaboration, Giga will leverage Equinix’s robust global infrastructure in its quest to identify connectivity gaps, deliver internet access to remote and underserved schools, and improve online learning experiences for students worldwide.
