Re: How does the Fabric Cloud Router compare to the Megaport Cloud Router?
Thank you for your question, Castle - it's a good one. While similar in there dynamic routing capabilities, Fabric Cloud Router provides a differentiated value to customers in a several ways: Fabric Cloud operates on a distributed forwarding plane in market while Megaport operates on a centralized data plane which requires all traffic to come back to a designated cloud router geo location before continuing to its destination. This can lower throughput by adding additional latency to your network. Additionally, Fabric Cloud Router is enabled to support higher bandwidth connections over 10Gbps. Megaport is limited to 10Gbps. And Fabric Cloud Router’s service package options will include those without predetermined bandwidth and # of connection commit levels which provides you with more network scalability to adjust how you move data more efficiently between cloud environments and services.2.7KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Meet the Product Managers!
Hello all! Pleasure to meet many of you for the first time, and some I have seen in the comments sections around here - Welcome 😁 My name is Tom McLaughlin, I am a Product Manager working on Interconnection and Observability here at Equinix. I've been here just over 2 years and it's been a blast. I never get tired of seeing teams come together to deliver new capabilities - there's something magical about that! When I am not working, I like to write software, go to concerts, and do yoga.11KViews4likes0CommentsRe: Fabric Cloud Router - Cloud Connectivity
Thank you for your question, Kevin. Today the FCR supports connections between Azure, GCP, AWS (via API) and Oracle. Additionally, customers can connect their FCRs using the IPVPN offering to enable inter metro routing of traffic through the FCR. This way, customers can connect between the clouds as well as create regional or global networks.3.9KViews0likes0CommentsRe: What are the benefits of Fabric Cloud Router?
Thank you for your note, Charlie. The FCR compliments Fabric to allow users to connect their clouds and Equinix networks in ways they couldn't before. Traditionally Fabric has enabled point to point connections, meaning a user could connect a cloud to another cloud, or an Equinix outpost with a cloud provider/service profile. They were limited to direct connections between two places. FCR allows users to connect any source to a number of destinations, similarly to a traditional router, but much faster and without all the configuration steps required to manage a router.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: What are the typical use cases that Fabric Cloud Router solves?

Thank you for your question, Nathan. The FCR has a quick and easy process to provision and make connections between itself and any number of the supported Cloud Providers. The process to spin up an FCR takes as little as 5 minutes. As soon as you are done creating it, the FCR is provisioned and ready to share routes! Anyone can go from no FCR to routing packets in under 15 minutes.3.7KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Edge Service and Virtual Circuit Traffic Summary
Khryssee, My name is Tom, I am a Product Manager for Interconnection at Equinix. Happy to provide some context: Unfortunately, usage statistics for virtual circuits between Fabric Ports and Network Edge virtual devices aren't currently available. The product team is aware of the desire to have these and is working on a cross product solution. They are working on this solution now and hope to deliver it in beta during the first half of 2023.
